THE EXHIBITION:

ASMP (The American Society of Media Photographers) New Mexico chapter, and United Photo Industries, in partnership with the Railyard Conservancy, are pleased to present the 7th annual edition of the nationally acclaimed photographic outdoor exhibition series called THE FENCE, again this summer in Santa Fe. Joining the 2018 roster of exhibition locations, including Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta, Calgary, Durham, Sarasota, and Denver, the exhibition will be on display July 21st through October 27th at the Railyard Park in Santa Fe, NM. In association with the national exhibition, THE FENCE NEW MEXICO, will also be shown, exclusively featuring the work of New Mexico-based photographers. A grand opening event is planned for Saturday afternoon, July 21st in Santa Fe at the Railyard Park.

The exhibitions are presented side by side and feature the work of more than 50 talented photographers whose project’s best exemplify the essence of community (as selected by a jury of international photography professionals). Exploring universal themes such as home, streets, people, creatures, nature, food, and play, the selected photographic narratives show us how these themes are a uniquely expressed in our communities. Suitable for all ages, the goal of THE FENCE is to present exceptional photography that is innovative, meaningful, and accessible to all people. The exhibition will be located again this year along the Bike Trail in the Railyard Park.

THE FENCE is a not-for-profit initiative sponsored by the New Mexico chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers, working with United Photo Industries (THE FENCE founders) and the Railyard Park Conservancy. As a collaborative partner in PhotoSummer 2018, THE FENCE NEW MEXICO will be part of a series of exhibitions and public programs in Santa Fe focusing on contemporary photography. Educational programing utilizing THE FENCE as a resource for experiential learning, will be available again this year for teachers and their students in the visual arts, social studies, geography, and sciences.

The highly acclaimed national exhibition features the work of 50 photographers from around the world, and is being shown in each of the 8 participating cities during the summer and fall of 2018. THE FENCE NM, a part of the larger exhibition, exclusively features New Mexican photographers, and is exhibited only in Santa Fe at the Railyard Park.

THE FENCE, suitable for all ages, features photography that explores our communities through the themes of home, streets, people, creatures, nature, and play.

About the Railyard Park Conservancy:

In partnership with the City of Santa Fe, the Railyard Park Conservancy provides specialized horticultural care for the 13 acres of cultivated gardens and unique landscape features in the Railyard Park and Plaza.
